AALI team filed a writ petition before the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench challenging the mandatory requirement of the Domestic Incident Report (DIR) for proceeding with domestic violence cases under section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. Within two months, the Hon’ble High Court ruled in our favor, stating that the DIR is not mandatory. This ruling provides relief to survivors whose cases were previously stalled due to technicalities, and ensures that justice can be pursued without unnecessary barriers.
